This month we have Luke Arndt bring a topic that was chosen by popular vote!

The Ruby and Rust programming languages are both optimised for developer happiness, though they express it in very different ways. Ruby hands us a powerful suite of high-level tools and trusts that we know what we’re doing, while Rust notices that we might blow up production and refuses to compile. It also lacks several features we might take for granted: try / catch, inheritance, garbage collection, and even nil.

Despite all of this, or maybe because of it, Rust has been growing on me lately. Let’s take a look together and I’ll show you a few of the things it can do.
